Chiropractic Philosophy

In recent years orthodox medical opinion has changed to “active management” based on “early rehabilitation and restorative function”. In other words, Chiropractors aim to treat the cause, not the symptoms. This has been the chiropractic principal for over a hundred years and is our primary goal here at the back to wellness centre.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Why Should I Go See A Chiropractor?

Chiropractic is a natural approach to health care. People visit chiropractors for many reasons, some because they are in pain. For others, it is a way of facilitating good health: for more energy, higher resistance to disease, better sports performance, and a more comfortable pregnancy.

A chiropractic spinal check-up and spinal adjustments (manipulation) if required, will help restore normal function to your spine and nervous system unlocking your energy, balancing your body and awakening your “inner healer”.

What Conditions Do Chiropractors Commonly Treat?

  • Low back and neck pain
  • Headaches
  • “Pinched nerves”
  • Muscular pain
  • Sciatic pain and Leg pain
  • Dizziness
  • Shoulder, elbow
  • Carpal Tunnel
  • Sports related injuries
  • Arthritic/Rheumatic Pain

How Can A Chiropractor Help You?

As chiropractors we specialize in locating spinal bones which are stuck out of position or which have abnormal motion. This may result in stretching, rubbing or chafing a nerve, which feels like a “pinched nerve”. These “Subluxations” can interfere with nerve messages between the brain and the body, producing unhealthy changes to affect muscles, joints and possibly organs.

We remove this interference by using spinal manipulations called “adjustments”. We are able to normalize nervous system function so that your body can heal itself. In this way we treat the cause of your trouble and not just your symptoms.

Where Does My Pain Come From?

As a poor health condition develops, pain is the last thing to appear. When the chiropractor works on the cause and the body begins to heal, pain is the first thing to disappear. To be most assured that the pain does not return and new symptoms do not appear, the hidden cause of pain must be corrected.

Only 10% of the sensory nerve fibres in your body are pain fibres?

What Will I Expect On The First Visit?

Your initial visit will involve a full case history together with a complete physical examination. This will include orthopedic, neurological and muscle tests which will help to pinpoint the source of your problem. All tests will be explained to you in detail, so that you understand your particular condition.

How Long Will I Need Chiropractic Care?

We locate and correct vertebral subluxations, using one of a variety of adjusting techniques. The adjustment is a small rapid thrust skillfully applied to the joint, which is generally painless.

The number of treatments varies from patient to patient. Your rate of improvement depends on several factors such as the type and duration of your condition. Your chiropractor will be able to advise you on how you are likely to respond.
